Why We’re Called

Coop SA

Building a Cooperative San Antonio

San Antonio has always been a city with big hearts and small margins.

People here work hard, help their neighbors, and build community — but too often, the systems around us are built to benefit corporations and developers instead of residents.

That’s why we call ourselves Coop SA.

The word Coop comes from cooperative — a model where people come together to own and build things collectively. Around the world, co-ops have helped communities take control of their housing, their food, their jobs, and their health.

They’ve proven that when people share ownership, they also share prosperity.

🌱 What We’re Trying to Build

We want to bring that cooperative power home to San Antonio.

That means creating:

  • Worker co-ops where employees own the business and share the profits.

  • Housing co-ops that make rent stable and affordable.

  • Food co-ops that connect local farmers to local families.

  • Wellness co-ops that make natural health and prevention accessible to everyone.

Coop SA isn’t just an organization — it’s a movement to rebuild San Antonio’s local economy from the ground up, so the people who create value are the ones who benefit from it.

💪 Why It Matters

When we organize as co-ops, we stop depending on the same systems that exploit or ignore us.

We start building our own — businesses that pay fairly, homes that stay affordable, food that nourishes, and communities that last.

Coop SA is here to connect and empower everyone who shares that vision — from neighborhood leaders to small business owners to everyday citizens.

Together, we’re creating the blueprint for a Cooperative San Antonio — one that thrives because the people own their future.
